We’re kicking off a brand-new web series called Made Across America, and the timing couldn’t be better.
In a time where the news is dominated with headlines regarding tariffs and imports, the value of American-made has never been more clear. Reliability, quality, and pride in craftsmanship aren’t just buzzwords—they’re the backbone of what keeps our country running. This series is all about celebrating that.
Each episode, we’re hitting the road to visit one of our facilities and spotlight the people and products that help protect what powers our everyday lives. All the critical systems we depend on—often without even realizing it.
Kicking Things Off On the East Coast
Our first stop takes us to Montgomeryville, just north of Philadelphia, a region steeped in American history and bursting with new growth and construction. We kick things off outside Independence Hall, the birthplace of the Constitution, which is now a work zone filled with signs, warning tapes, and safety markers that come straight from our own facilities.
As I walked the cobblestone streets and dodged the construction zones, I came across a historical marker of a man I hadn’t previously heard of: Matthew Carey.
Carey was a Philly-based publisher from the 1800s who believed deeply in buying American-made goods and protecting local manufacturing through tariffs. The guy was basically the original “shop local” advocate.
Stumbling across his historical marker while creating a series focused on American made products truly felt like kismet!
LEM: Signs, labels, and tags, oh my!
After a quick visit to Ben Franklin’s original print shop, I headed 30 miles up the road to our own print shop to chat with my colleagues who run the LEM Products, Inc. and William Frick & Company brands.
I first had to ask all the Philly locals how morale had been impacted since the Eagles won the Super Bowl in February. As a Vikings fan all too familiar with heartbreak, I had to know what it felt like to have your team make it to the promised land.
Our conversations then turned to our new company tagline: Protecting What Powers Our Everyday Lives. When you work in our industry, you quickly realize the importance that safety and identification products have to the entire infrastructure that keeps our daily lives running smoothly.
Durable Signs and Delicious Sammies
When visiting Montgomeryville, we had to talk about one of our favorite products: signs. Specifically, our aluminum composite material (ACM) signs. They’re sleek, durable, and engineered to last. Dare I say they’re the Cadillac of signage? Two thin slices of aluminum thermo-bonded to a solid polyethylene core. Kind of like… a sandwich?
Naturally, we ended the day with the great American pastime of debating sandwiches. Philly is home to the cheesesteak but was that everyone’s favorite?
While discussing everyone’s preferred meat+cheese+bread combination, we stumbled across a big question: Is a burger a sandwich?
We will have a poll going out shortly.
A Snapshot Worth $1,000
Before wrapping up the episode, we plugged something you’ll definitely want to check out: our Safety Snapshot Photo Contest. Snap a photo of our products out in the wild, and you could win a $1,000 airfare voucher. Think of all the new sandwiches you could try on your next vacation!
