Enough with the T.L.A.’s!

I had an epiphany the other day.  It hit me like a ton of bricks….we sure do use a LOT of acronyms at Presco.  And the three letter acronym (TLA) is especially prevalent and sneaks into my vocabulary even when I am at home conversing with my family.  Even the product we manufacture is a TLA, PVC!  I’m starting to be concerned that my youngest child’s first words are going to be an acronym – OMG! But it is the technical jargon that has gotten out of hand.  You come into contact with enough TLA’s when manufacturing, but manufacturing a polymer brings it to a whole new level. This was the list our team created without really thinking too hard: DOE – Design of Experiment DOA – Di-Octyl Adipate RGA – Returned Goods Authorization MRR – Material Return Request POS – Point of Sale PVC – Polyvinyl Chloride EPA – Environmental Protection Agency PET – Polyethylene Terephthalate TPU – Thermoplastic Polyurethane LTL – Less than Truck Load RFQ – Request for Quote RFI – Request for Information TDS – Technical Data Sheet BPA – Bisphenol A COA – Certificate of Analysis COC – Certificate of Compliance CPE – Chlorinated Polyethylene NDA – Non Disclosure Agreement PHR – Parts per Hundred Resin CTQ – Critical to Quality SOP – Standard Operating Procedure HMW – High Molecular Weight ESO – Epoxidized Soybean Oil VOC – Volatile Organic Compound PSI – Pounds per Square Inch ETA – Estimated Time of Arrival DOP – Di-Octyl Phthalate LOI – Limited Oxygen Index UOM – Unit of Measure ISO – International Organization for Standardization MRB – Material Review Board RFP – Request for Proposal FOB – Free on Board COB – Close of Business B2B – Business to Business POI – Point of Interest MOQ – Minimum Order Quantity ROP – Re-Order Point ROQ – Re-Order Quantity SDS – Safety Data Sheet SpG – Specific Gravity LMW – Low Molecular Weight COD – Cash on Delivery Stay tuned for our list of the even more popular FLA’s…..Four Letter Acronyms.
